What is a UUID?

A UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) is a 128-bit number used to identify information in computer systems. The probability of generating duplicate UUIDs is extremely low, making them ideal for distributed systems.

Format:8-4-4-4-12 hexadecimal digits
Example:550e8400-e29b-41d4-a716-446655440000

UUID Versions

V4Random

Generated using random or pseudo-random numbers. Most commonly used version.

V1Timestamp

Based on timestamp and MAC address. Sortable by creation time.
